Overview

Engine 761 is a Type 6 wildland engine assigned to Station 1. Type 6 engines are compact, highly maneuverable apparatus designed for initial attack on wildland fires and operations in terrain that larger engines cannot access. Their small footprint and four-wheel-drive capability make them ideal for off-road deployment on steep slopes, narrow roads, and undeveloped land.

Capabilities

  • Wildland fire initial attack in off-road terrain
  • Pump-and-roll suppression while the vehicle is moving
  • Access to narrow roads, driveways, and unimproved terrain
  • Patrol and mop-up following fire control
  • Structure protection triage in the wildland-urban interface
  • State and federal mutual-aid deployments (NWCG compliant)

NWCG Type 6 Engine Standards

NWCG Type 6 engines carry a minimum of 50 gallons of water and are staffed by a two-person crew. Their light chassis allows rapid deployment across terrain that would stop heavier apparatus. Engine 761 meets NWCG standards for state and federal resource orders.
