Overview

Engine 3 is a hybrid interface engine designed to operate in both structural and light wildland fire environments. This type of apparatus is specifically engineered for the wildland-urban interface (WUI) — areas where residential development meets undeveloped wildland vegetation. It combines the structural firefighting capabilities of a traditional pumper with the off-road mobility and wildland tactics required in interface zones.

Capabilities

  • Structural fire suppression — interior and exterior attack
  • Light wildland fire suppression and structure protection in the WUI
  • Elevated ground clearance for unpaved road access
  • Pump-and-roll capability for mobile wildland attack
  • BLS first response equipment
  • Interface and wildland hose lays
